# Step card 1: Why we are here

Block 1 of 7, 10:30 to 10:50.

## Where we are

Step 1 of 7: the problem. A course full of barriers, and a team too small.

## What you will have at the end

A picture of where the day ends: a team report on a whole course, with one section written by an agent you build.

## Steps

1. Listen. Nothing to type yet.
2. Open the kit in VS Code if it is not open already: File, then Open Folder, then choose the ahg-2026-agent-kit folder. The welcome page opens.
3. Open Copilot Chat: Control+Alt+I on Windows, or Command+Control+I on a Mac.
4. Type /ready-check and press Enter. Copilot checks five things and tells you each one is ready.

## You are on track if

Copilot ends the ready check with: You are ready for 16 November.

## If you are stuck

If the ready check says something needs a hand, a helper fixes it with you while the room carries on. You will not miss anything you cannot catch up on.

Raise a hand at any time. A helper comes to you.

## Your win

You are set up. That was the hardest part of the day, and it is done.

## On Monday

The two rules travel with you: nothing private goes into any AI, and a person reviews everything an agent writes.
