The file

Step card 2: Design your agent

Block 2 of 7, 10:50 to 11:50.

Where we are

Step 2 of 7: your agent, as five plain-English answers.

What you will have at the end

Your own agent: the file my-agent/SKILL.md, with your answers in it and your name on it.

Steps

  1. Pick one role card: documents and alternate formats; course content and faculty coaching; or compliance and procurement.
  2. Think of one real problem from your job. Nothing private: no student names, records or accommodation details.
  3. Open Copilot Chat: Control+Alt+I on Windows, or Command+Control+I on a Mac.
  4. Type /design-my-agent and press Enter.
  5. Answer Copilot's questions one at a time: role, task, trusted guidance, output format, human review. Borrow from the example whenever you like.
  6. Copilot writes your answers into my-agent/SKILL.md and reads the file back to you.
  7. Optional: open my-agent/SKILL.md to read it yourself. Press Control+P on Windows or Command+P on a Mac, type SKILL, and choose my-agent.

You are on track if

Copilot tells you one specific thing your agent does well.

To see a finished example first, open examples/maria-alternate-format-planner.md.

If you are stuck

Open examples/agents in the Explorer, pick the ready-made agent nearest your card, copy its SKILL.md text, and paste it over my-agent/SKILL.md. Then change the author line to your name. That is a real agent, and it is yours now.

Raise a hand at any time. A helper comes to you.

Your win

Your agent exists. You wrote it in plain English, and it follows the same format as the open-source Accessibility Agents project.

Writing an agent works in any AI assistant your campus allows: paste the five parts in as instructions.
